The Composition classes at the Stratford & East London Music Festival are a new innovation - they only started last year.
The festival, despite being 142 years old (!) continues to change and adapt, making itself relevant to each new generation of music-makers.
These classes are held as an entirely online discipline; and amateur composers of any age are asked to submit their pieces for adjudication.
This year, the classes were ably adjudicated by Ben Costello.
Music was submitted on pdf and there was a Zoom meeting on Sunday 11 February, for entrants to hear Ben comment on their work and award marks and positions.
We are pleased that the word is getting out and many more people entered this year than last year. All the music was warmly appreciated by Ben, who offered helpful tips and comments.
