I am delighted to report that we had a hugely successful choirs, orchestras and bands event again this year at St Mary’s Church, South Woodford on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th February. We had over 400 children and 200 adults taking part. All entrants received a certificate and professional adjudication, and our winners each took a cup home as well.
Children & Young People
The school bands and orchestras were on first, with stirring offerings from Woodford Green Prep School, St Aubyn’s School and Arbor Academy. What an exciting start to the day with five bands competing! Well done to Arbor Academy for winning that class!
We were also thrilled to welcome Normanhurst Junior Choir back to the festival and they won Class 209 (Children's Choir - 11 yrs and under - Traditional/ folk song).
It’s always a treat to hear the high standard achieved at Mead School and they won Class 214 (Christmas in February - Childrens Choirs), amidst strong opposition!
A warm welcome also to Nelson School, on their first visit to the festival.

Both Avon House Prep Choir and Avon House Pre-Prep Choir sang beautifully and their Pre-Prep Choir won Class 210 (Children's Choir - 7 yrs and under - Free Choice).
The afternoon ended with St Aubyn’s School charming us and winning Class 213 (Junior Choir - Classical).
This year we welcomed two new young people’s choirs – Bobby Moore Academy won Class 207 (Youth Choir - 11 to 16 yrs - Free Choice) and Coopers’ Company and Coborn won Class 208 (Youth Choir - 18 yrs & under - Free Choice). Well done - you were inspiring!
Adult Choirs
Our adult choirs had a wonderful start when The Woodford Singers took the stage. They won Class 201 (Amateur Choir Classical).
Modality Voices are always a treat to listen to and watch. They went home with the cups for Classes 202 (Amateur Choir Contemporary Repertoire), 203 (Amateur Choir Free Choice) and 206 (Christmas In February - Adult Choirs). Well deserved, Modality!
We were completely blown away by the vivacity and joy of Bloom Community Choir and they deservedly won Class 204 (Community Choir - Unison or Simple Harmony).

It was our first visit from The Singing Room Community Choir and everyone really enjoyed their beautiful renditions.

Capital Chorus make a wonderful contrast, being a Barber Shop group – such a contrast in sound.

The stunning MIC Choir took our breath away with their beautiful singing and they won Class 211 (Church Choir or Gospel Choir - Free Choice).
All Saints Choir rounded off the day with beautiful versions of two anthems.
